Why buy seasoning salt when you can make your own? Making your own saves money and you have the peace of mind knowing what went into it. I use seasoning salt all the time, especially when marinating meats. Don’t believe the hype that marinating using salt is going to make your meats tough. That is only the case when you are using tons of salt, like when you are preserving a meat. Seasoning salt is a must for any pantry!
Seasoning Salt
4tbs granulated onion
4tbs granulated garlic
2tsp sweet paprika
1 cup kosher salt - medium fine grain
Mix all these ingredients together and bottle.
Seasoning salt is a perfect addition when marinating meats because of the fine grains of onion & garlic. These fine grains will penetrate the meat quicker and deeper than raw minced onion & garlic. Also most of my recipes require you to sear the meat after it has marinated. If we were using raw onion & garlic then these ingredients would quickly burn during the searing process.
